What is Micro-Needling?

It is a pen-like medical tool with a series of tiny, sterile needs located in the tip. These needles move over the skin and penetrate below the surface to a specific depth to create microchannels that are invisible to the naked eye. This process stimulates the production of new collagen underneath the skin, restoring structure and strength. Micro-needling also helps restructure collagen fibers to tighten and lift loose skin. After the skin is "opened up" during the micro-needling process, it absorbs the platelet rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate your own growth factors in rejuvenating your skin.

What you can expect at your Vampire® Facial Treatment.

While the name may sound scary, the procedure is not. When you come in for a vampire facial, you can expect the appointment to last about 60 minutes. Your blood will be drawn and centrifuged to extract the platelet rich plasma. Once the PRP has been extracted, it will be brushed onto your face and our aesthetician will then use the micro-needling tool. The tool is pressed lightly on your skin to control how deep and where the needles go.

While the procedure is not considered to be painful, some patients may experience a slight discomfort. Some patients will experience redness after the procedure, but it will fade quickly.

PRP injections may bring about the possibility of tiny bruises developing at the needle's entry point. Some redness and swelling is to be expected. We want the skin to get a little inflamed to stimulate the natural healing process and the production of collagen. Absorption with PRP may be achieved in as little as 24 hours. Downtime may range anywhere from 24 to 72 hours. After that time, our patients go back to their usual routines.

What results should I expect from my Vampire® Facial Treatment?

Over the next week, you may notice a healthy glow and some improvement in texture and tone. The biggest changes happen over the next 4-6 weeks as this is when collagen will be forming.
